If you do not join the fans of football fans heading to South Africa for the 2010 World Cup, take advantage of the crowds and get close to nature at the Jock Safari Lodge. But be prepared - you may find yourself just among the stampede of another kind.
Located on the southern edge of Kruger National Park, one of Africa's largest game reserves, Jock Safari Lodge is located between the Piemonte and Mitomini rivers. Located on an area of 14,826 acres (6,000 hectares) of private land, this landmark building, Min Jock and Little Jook, offers a unique combination of spa and safari experiences.

With the fallen limbs of trees that act like rails and rails, the main building reminds us of an oversized house of trees. All 12 of the 12 tiled suites feature a stylish private Sala or a showroom, with stunning views of the rivers and reserves. While you can enjoy snorkeling in the outdoor bathroom or soaking in your private bath, you can see the previous springbok jump or gray loonie perch nearby. The animals roam around the lodge. People and nature blend seamlessly together.

The safari experience is equally impressive as a loot. Groups of no more than six persons are assigned to an experienced guard serving as a safari guide. As my husband and I travel alone, we share our guard, Dummy, with two couples who are tearing jokes from Johannesburg. Dummy stayed with us during our visit while driving and meals.

Do not spend days in the hostel. Dummy makes sure we are about to dawn, just like animals. After a quick cup of tea at 0600, we set off to explore the "Kruger", also called South Africa. The park area is about 418 kilometers (260 miles) from north to south, and an average of 61 kilometers (38 miles) from east to west, although some parts are as wide as 88 kilometers (55 miles). Think about the size of the US state of Connecticut, but with the abundant wildlife that includes the animals referred to by fishermen as the Big Five - black, elephants, buffalo head, rhinoceros and tigers - plus 507 species of birds.

As we drive along the rugged road, Dummy teaches us about plants and animals. He tells us about geography, noting that kopjes (kop-ees) are not just rocky hills, but are built up of granite, volcanic ash and dust. Predators use them as prey points.

Elephants, giraffes and various types of antelopes decorate the shrubs. We discover the game and the eagle of self-defense as they practice their daily work. There is an antelope called the waterbuck with a distinctive bull eye ring on the back and a white tie under his neck. A mummy elephant continues to clean its tail by brushing against the child behind it to make sure it is safe. Hyenas, and appear to be an advanced condition of osteoporosis, suppression in stealth on the road.

Our most exciting vision is one wild dog. It is unusual to see these endangered animals, especially without their bundles. Since Dummy calls other guards in the area via the radio, we become the package. Long before, the wild dog surrounds him by Land Rover lined up from close range to watch all his movement. Somehow, do not get upset

We return in the afternoon, grab a bite, and feel comfortable with the afternoon disappearing. My preference is to head to Pilgrims Rest Retreat, a full-service spa with sauna, steam room, and jacuzzi. During the body wrap from Heat Heat, my therapist makes me feel warm and soothing, then wraps me like a piece of sushi. This cyanic therapy, in addition to a scalp massage for 20 minutes, attracts me to deep sleep.

The next morning, my husband and I do a safari walk. The difference between drive and jungle picnic is like the difference between diving and snorkeling: in one notes, and in the other, you are part of the movement. Step into one file with two Rangers in front. One of the guards stands guard while the other explains the things we see behind the footprints and the expulsion of Ruth. I never thought that the latter would be interesting, but the guards explain that animals are used to communicate and educate their territory. Then we move when we are surprised by the surprise of everyone where two of the majestic white rhinoceros stand near the hotel.

Relaxation, adventure, and luxury - Jock Safari Lodge provides it all. It is a South African experience that does not disappoint.
