Welcome to Zagora

Located in the Draa Valley, at the edge of the Oued Draa, 700 m above sea level, at the foot of the Zagora Mountain where the Almoravids built a fortress that protected the region from its assailants, 160 km south of Ouarzazate, Zagora is the last Saharan city on the desert road. Zagora, lively and very hospitable where to find all that can make life easier: banks, pharmacies, hospital, doctors, garages, food shops, and of course, cafes and restaurants, jewelry shops, carpets, clothes ... so many shops where we will welcome you with a mint tea and a smile of welcome.

Zagora also today has an airport that connects the region to Casablanca twice a week, daily and reliable bus services and numerous taxis.

Zagora is also the city from where the caravans for Timbuktu left until the 20th century as evidenced by the sign "Timbuktu 52 days" and the last stop before treks, excursions and camel rides to the desert. This is why we have here a perfect knowledge of the desert, the trails, the art of traveling safely. We meet young and old people willing to share their passion for the desert.

At the crossroads of the directions Ouarzazate in the North, Tata and Tafraoute in the West, Erfoud and Merzouga in the East and M'Hamid and the great ergs in the South, Zagora is an ideal place to stay and to travel. The city is also a crossroads of cultures and populations, which manifests itself through clothing styles, ceremonies (weddings) and specific music.
