Scalp after a hair transplant
To answer the question - £5k for the first procedure of 4500 grafts, and £2.5k for the second procedure of around 3000 grafts. I went to Istanbul for both.
The first procedure didn’t take very well which I believe was down the the procedure itself where they used a hand-held machine thingy to implant the grafts. I learnt that this can actually cause more trauma to the area in some cases - in mine it grew back a little patchy and I lost a lot of sensation on my scalp.
The second procedure was MUCH better. I chose a different clinic who did everything by hand using a slit technique which was less traumatic to the area.
Overall I’m really happy with the results having been a year and a half since the second procedure (3 years since the first). It’s still not as dense as I’d like, but my hair is very fine anyway and I was made aware from the beginning that I won’t ever have loads of density. My confidence has sky rocketed though.
Just to give some context. I’m in the UK and quotes I got here were around £15-20k for 3000 grafts. I absolutely was not paying that much so after doing a tonne of research I realised that Europe - Turkey and India particularly - have been doing the procedure a lot longer. This meant their techniques are much more advanced too.
If you’re serious about it, make sure you do your research into the procedure and any clinic you’re considering going to. Trust your gut and if it doesn’t feel right, walk away.
